A cooling lipstick sounds like a nice treat to your pout when the sun’s out. We are yet to experience a sweltering summer but if a hydrating lippie with a pop of colour is somehow mood-boosting when the weather’s muggy.
The RMS Beauty Legendary Serum Lipstick is a lipstick-lip serum-lip stain hybrid developed to give long-lasting coverage with just one swipe and trust me, one swipe is all you need to get the colour on your lips.
Founder Rose-Marie Swift, 69, raved about the nutrient-packed product that features organic bitter cherry fruit water to hydrate and smooth the skin, kakadu plum extract to protect the delicate and sensitive areas and the Trio-Wax complex for a “velvety, serum-like finish”.
The £33 lipstick available in eight shades and I have it in shade Melanie, a Tahitian coral red, and to use it, just twist the lipstick until you hear a click so the product comes out and use the neck of the tube as a guide to draw around the lips.
I like that it takes me an absolute minimum effort to master the lips and I don’t need any lip brush or lip pencil to draw the shape, it’s perfect to use on-the-go. The cooling sensation is a surprise and that’s down to the water-based bitter cherry fruit water, which is also rich in vitamins and minerals.
Rose-Marie shared on Instagram as she put on her favourite shade ‘Audrey’: “All you young girls with perfect lips, embrace for as long as you can and stop putting on things that are going to make your lipstick and everything stay on for 28 days because you are just drying your lips out.
“Keep them nice and moisturised for the rest of your life and you won’t have wrinkly, old lips. These water-based serum lipstick are really nourishing and hydrating for the skin. I’ve lined my lips and this goes on beautifully. I’m just going to use a brush to tidy up the lines and go in for another coat.
“It feels like I just put water on my lips, it’s beautiful and hydrating.”
Rose-Marie also showed a trick to take a small amount of the product and put it on her cheeks as blush. “Don’t put too much on becuase it stains, but just a little hint of colour there,” she added.
For me, I also like to dab the lipstick on the lips for a softer look with gradient effect – a little goes a long way. But I wish they can improve the design of the cap, it’s quite hard to close and I had to give it a good push.
The RMS serum lipstick is £33 each and you can get a free powder puff sample when buying on the RMS Beauty website. Alternatively, Milk Makeup’s Cooling Water Jelly Tint gives a watercolour-like finish on your lips or cheeks.
You can purchase it from SpaceNK and choose between three shades: Spritz, Burst and Splash.
