L’Oreal retinol serum that targets ‘deep wrinkles’ reduced to £10

L’Oreal’s anti-ageing bestseller that tackles deep set wrinkles and corrects pigmentation is now included in Boots’ Tuesday deal. The Revitalift Laser Pure Retinol Night Serum has been reduced from £31.99 to £10 online while stocks last.

Dubbed as a “miracle in a blue bottle”, the night serum delivers 0.2% pure retinol to the skin that’s so effective 77% of women saw a reduction in the appearance of deep wrinkles. As we age, our skin will lose elasticity and wrinkles start forming around the eyes, mouth and forehead and the active ingredient in the bottle works on the renewal of skin cells to improve your complexion.

Dermatologists warned that retinol can cause mild irritations or a burning sensation so application should be phased in gradually. Retinol can also make your skin more sensitive to UV radiation and sun exposure, hence why it’s important to put on sunscreen the morning after. You can get the lightweight Biore UV Aqua Rich Water Essence Sunscreen from Amazon for £14.99 or splurge on Chantecaille’s Ultra Sun Protection SPF45, £92, which is packed with wrinkle-lifting and skin-firming properties.

With more than 1,000 reviews shared online, the L’Oreal Revitalift Laser Pure Retinol Night Serum has received an average rating of 4.4 out of five and 735 of shoppers have given it a five-star remark.

When it comes to skincare, consistency is key and it’s recommended to use the product for at least three months to achieve the best results. Dr Deborah Sarnoff, president from The Skin Cancer Foundation, explained on the blog: “Cell turnover can take as much as six to eight weeks in someone in their 60s or 70s, and that buildup of dead skin cells can make their complexion appear duller and drier.”

The expert suggested: “You can speed up the process (at any age) with topical products that contain retinoids, which promote new cell growth, or alpha hydroxy acids, including glycolic acid. These loosen up the intercellular glue-like substance that holds skin cells together on the surface, allowing them to slough off sooner. You can find these ingredients in cleansers, serums, lotions or creams.”

One said she was left impressed and added: “Better than expected. Overall texture much smoother and plumper, no hollow under eyes etc. I look much more awake.”

Another shopper said: “I’ve used the L’Oreal Retinol for nearly a year, I’m on my second bottle. I really like it, and I like the smell, it’s not fragranced as such but definitely a nicer smell than some I’ve tried. I personally think it works wonders, really helps to hydrate the skin too.”

A third claimed the night serum “revived her 50+ skin”, penning: “Lovely feel on the skin. Absorbs well, not greasy at all. Leaves skin refreshed.”

Some did mention a flaw in the pipette design. “Only downside is the dropper which doesn’t always work when pressed, more noticeable on my last two purchases,” a shopper commented. Others said they experienced burning sensation on skin, however, L’Oreal suggested it’s best to “use every other day during the first week, then every two days in three during the second week, to give the skin time to become accustomed to the action of retinol”.

You can now save £21.99 on the L’Oreal Revitalift Laser Pure Retinol Night Serum and get it at £10 here. Alternatively, Olay’s Retinol 24 Night Cream, down from £38 to £15.44 on Amazon, also won praises from nearly 9,000 customers.

RoC Retinol Correxion Wrinkle Correct Serum, which targets deep-set wrinkles, boasts mineral complex and pure RoC retinol to lift lines for a youthful appearance and is available on LookFantastic at £32.99.
